Dale offers the prompt “reflections” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.
Below are some reflections on Techny Pond, a small body of water, in Northbrook, IL.
We used to live in the buildings seen in the distance of the first photo.

I love reflections, Frank, and I love fog. Having both is a treat.

I love the fog as well. Thank you, Dan!

As long as the water is calm, the reflection shows the true (though reversed) image of the shore, even in the fog. Isn’t it the same in our lives? How often do we reflect on our lives only when things are turbulent? We want to get to the bottom of the issue, but unless our mind is calm, all we see are distortions. Worse, they’re distortions of our own making.
I can understand why you return to this peaceful place for pictures. It’s wonderful! And like that pond, if you have the Peace of God within you, you can see yourself through God’s eyes, without the distortion, even when nothing else is clear.
Happy Reformation Day

Happy Reformation Day, Rebecca! Good point about turbulence making it more difficult to see clearly. We need to be calm. The Holy Spirit gives us the peace and joy we need to see clearly.

Fog is beautiful. I rarely find it on my walks. Thank you, Dale!

I lived in that area for years, and I don’t think I ever saw that. Of course, most of the time I was on Waukegan Road, and it doesn’t appear you can see the pond from there (or for that matter, Waukegan Road from the pond)…

Waukegan Road borders Techny Park, but the pond is by the Anetsberger Golf Course. From there I could see the towers in the distance which I think were on Waukegan Road. I used to walk in the forest preserves and the Skokie lagoons area. However, I haven’t been there in a few years.

Looks lovely. Did you have many mosquitoes with the water’s being so close?

There weren’t any mosquitoes by that pond. There is a small golf course adjacent to it. I usually am bothered by mosquitoes when I walk through less civilized forested areas, but not often even in those places. Thank you, Chel!

That’s idyllic, then. The fog is neat, too!
