Proverbial Fairy Tales: Wolf! Wolf! – The End

Once upon a time there was a wolf who loved to eat and a lad who loved crying “Wolf! Wolf!” even when there was no wolf. When people realized after a month or so that the lad was nowhere to be seen they figured the wolf must have eaten him. So, they erected a statue in the lad’s honor even though they couldn’t remember his name and barbecued the wolf.

Pigeons loved the statue. So did the tourists who couldn’t believe that anyone in his right mind would have erected it.

After all of that everyone realized that there were no good reasons, no matter how many times they shuffled them, for anyone not to live happily ever after – which meant there were no good reasons for me not to either – and so we all did.

  1. Oh, I totally love this, Frank! We who know the Lord DO get to have a happily ever after ending–I’m so grateful!

I’m curious: how or where did you get the idea for these wolf-proverbial-fairy tales? You seriously should consider publishing all of them in a book–I would buy a couple, hot off the press!

    1. I am glad you liked this series of tales. You are right that we who know the Lord do get to have a happily ever after (and even right now) ending.

As far as where the ideas come from, I hope they come from the Holy Spirit and I hope I don’t misrepresent what He said, but if I did that would be my fault. Blessings, Cale!

  2. agree with the others (my god! what’s happening to me?!!?)

wise man once said, “the world is a feeling” which your ending reinforces for me… our relationship with the world around us is not one of facts, figures, currency or property. it is how we embrace it

  3. i loved the tale of peter and the wolf and the three pigs… oh and red riding hood…. i kinda think the wolf gets a bad name… statutes lose their power over time… you’re right everyone forgets… it’ a great lookout for pigeons to rest on though… some people tear them down in bitterness… others they pass by without much fanfare and move on… i enjoyed the happy ending
