While browsing through a book store Joe realized that no one in his right mind buys a real book made out of ink on paper anymore since computers have stored everything and they can even regurgitate anything of value in that book in a few seconds. He left the store empty handed.
His next stop was a new restaurant in a new mall where he planned to meet a friend realizing that no computer (no matter how steam-powered quantum it was) could regurgitate for him the food he was about to eat. Unfortunately, his friend called saying he would be an hour late which left Joe to wander the strange mall till his friend arrived.
Just behind the restaurant Joe found a huge book store which also sold t-shirts, toys and coffee mugs (just in case you realized that no one in his right mind buys books anymore). As he glanced through the shelves there it was, a book, a real book with ink on paper which seemed to say Buy Me! Buy Me! Buy Me!, and so, rejoicing like one watching the dawning of a new morning, Joe bought it.

Denise offers the prompt word “steam” to be used in this week’s Six Sentence Stories.

Yay, he bought it. Love the verse! 𓂃🪶

Great Six, Frank. I never feel as if I’ve read a book unless I’ve read it in hard copy.

Love book stores! The older the better. Yet, I fear you are right…digitization is the future and it is disheartening.

There is a place for both, but it is great to have a physical book in one’s hand. For quick searching a digital book may be faster. Blessings and thank you, Angela!

I can’t go to the bookstore or a second-hand store with knick-knacks.
Everything screams at me Buy Me! Buy Me! Buy Me!, so I can understand why he bought it.
Great story!

While I am an avid ebook and audiobook user- nothing quite beats the feel of a good old paper and ink book!

The paper and ink books do seem to be fading away like tape players and DVDs, but I do enjoy reading a real book. Blessings, Violet!

I read physical books. I think they cause less eye strain.

They probably are better for the eyes. I try keeping a good sitting posture with my eyes some distance from the screen when on the computer. I can more easily read a book in bed. Blessings and thank you, Cai!

Old/Used bookstores? The scent/smell of books of all vintages (from dog-eared paperback copies of ‘Green Berets’ to hardcopy sets of ‘Tom Swift and his Flying Lab’)
*forgive me if I’ve said this before**
** as surely I keeping company with creative writers has me rummaging my experiences…just to try and keep up lol

Actually this is (more or less) a true story that happened a few hours before I wrote it. My name isn’t “Joe”, so not all of it is true. Blessings, Clark!

Apart from possibly comprehending and recalling more easily the content of a paperback book vs an e-book, the tangible tactile connection between human hands and books is irreplaceable.

I love the feeling when you least expect it and find that special or long searched for book. (I’ve yet to leave a used bookstore with one book, lol) I’m glad Joe found at least one book to buy, Frank.

Ah yes, the scent of biblichor that fills a bookshop the way perfume fills a florist’s shop. Lovely Six. Frank.

There’s nothing like the soft weight and whisper of turning pages, book in lap! Tech requires an operational grid, but books? They thrive in sunlight. Get one today, just in case!

Books are great and the real ones only need sunlight to be read. Blessings, Liz!
