There are trails through the neighborhoods built into the Fort Mill, South Carolina, rolling hills. There is also a railroad track running through them. This trail is on the side nearest to where we live, the “this” side of the tracks.
Although the trails are easy often with cement paving they are hilly. Around the pond were a turtle and a beautiful bird who knew I was there but went back to doing what they were doing as I left.

Lots of South Carolina photos. Is that where you’re from? I don’t know why I thought you were from Europe.

Looks like the type of place I’d enjoy exploring. The turtle looks like he is taking a much needed break. 🙂

I could see that he knew I was there, but unlike the bird he didn’t move away. They were both happy I left. Blessings, Pepper!

such a funny thing… I remember as a kid (grade school) there were railroad tracks (working) and we’d walk along them sometimes as a shortcut. the ties were wood with heavy creosote that you could smell in the hot days of Summer*
Since that time I have not walked on railroad tracks though, in fairness there aren’t any near where we live
*back when Summer was consistently hot weather lol

Occasionally there is a train on those tracks, but I do not see them often. I once walked a trail that used to be a train track. It was long and straight and probably better for bicycles than people. Blessings and thank you, Clark!

That’s a mighty fine turtle with wisdom. The environment must be kind to the creatures.
