Once upon a time there was a dear damsel in distress. She blamed the dastardly dragon for all her woes. A white knight in shining armor rescued her.
Over time the damsel’s fiery words torched the knight’s castle destroying this and then that as she blamed the knight for all her woes.
The dragon, with a nod from the knight, rescued the dear damsel from the dastardly knight.
The knight lived happily ever after.

Denise offers “nod” as the prompt for this week’s Six Sentence Stories.

Nicely done, Frank. Also, I liked Boris and Natasha 🙂

I’m so glad the damsel was rescued by the dragon, and that the knight lived happily after. Great Six, Frank! 👍

These three are all confused in this tale, but I do think the knight and dragon are getting along better now. Blessings, Clark!

I feel this is a parable of modern marriage problems with some women…who are themselves dragons of sorts?

That would be a good way of interpreting it. The knight also had problems. Blessings, Jim!

You got the main point. The dear damsel was not so dear after all.

There is something else that occurred to me.
Both the white knight and the dear damsel are the bad guys in this tale. However, they both think they’re the good guys. The dastardly dragon is the victim. In this tale, the white knight acknowledges that what he did was wrong and helps the dragon and his fire-breathing bride get back together again.
David Edgington wrote a book called White Knights and Reviling Wives about men whose wives divorced them and estranged the children from their fathers. The white knights are other men and women, such as, social workers, police, or pastors. They witlessly defend the reviling wives and facilitate the destruction of marriages and families. Although I have not read Edgington’s book, I did listen to him in a YouTube interview:
That is what this tale is about.

I need to read his book; I had people tell me about it.

Some people simply make themselves hard to live with by their behavior, for knight or dragon.

I suspect I wouldn’t want to live with any of those three. Blessings, Mimi!

Enough with the damsel blaming others for her woes. Off with her… nah, won’t say it, even if this is a fairytale, lol. Hopefully, all three have realized their lesson.
