Drawbridge Door

While walking across the drawbridge connecting Normandy Isles and Treasure Island in the Miami area I noticed a door on the drawbridge mechanism right in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Waiting for the bridge to close so I can cross
The door where I would have least expected to find one
View heading back across the bridge from the other direction

Ovi Poetry Challenge: Health

True health is focused on His rest.
With will aligned the body’s blessed
and should the devil come to test,
remind him he’s defeated.

Hebrews 2:14-15 KJV14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Six Sentence Story: Victim

“Wield the sword with one hand and protect the baby with the other,” John proclaimed to the devil as it approached.

“What?” the devil responded.

“You heard me,” John replied.

The devil didn’t say anything, but that didn’t stop John from continuing.

“I’m looking for a good fight,” John said.

The devil backed away knowing there must be, somewhere, a softer victim, someone easier to tip over into disobedience.

1 Peter 5:8 KJV – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Ephesians 6:14-17 KJV14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Ovi Poetry Challenge: Energy

For revelation I will choose
the Holy Spirit, not some muse.
May He choose me and may He use
what energy I have.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 KJV9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Six Sentence Story: High Rank

George reached an age when his wickedness began to manifest in unrighteous ways on the shape of his body. For decades it had limited its manifestations to various wrinkles freezing funny frowns on his face, but now other parts of his body were wrecking havoc on his health.

It’s logically impossible – not that it hasn’t ever happened – for the wicked who have convinced themselves that they’re righteous to repent. The other guy has to go first. But that other guy, ranking as wickedly high on the righteousness scale as George has, isn’t about to do any such thing.

And that’s why this story about George isn’t going anywhere.
