Race—Ovi Poetry Challenge

I lost myself with some disgrace.
The mirror cringed to see my face.
I didn’t think it was a race
until I knew it was.

But that was then and now is now.
With soil turned beneath the plow
the seed was planted—God knows how—
and everything was changed.

Independence

Depending only on the Lord
I took His word, a two-edged sword,
but left the demon’s sparkling hoard
I used to wish was mine.

That change of life I won’t forget:
within reborn without regret,
with joy the well, with river wet
which flows with living water.

The Great Wide Open

Dale offers the prompt “the great wide open” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

These photos were taken long ago, but here’s a poem that is new:

From oceans to mountains to oceans again
with clouds in the sky and the birds coming in.
Skip down to the photos. In gratitude stay.
Give praise while you can. Oops. The birds flew away.

Second Try—Six Sentence Poetry Slam

I once had a second or two.
So I did with them what I could do.
Well, I schemed. Then I cried.
How those seconds flew by!
Now they’re gone like a dream I outgrew.

Six Poems—Tiny Book

While looking at LaTeX templates for brochures I noticed LianTze Lim’s PocketMod package which allows one to typeset eight smaller pages on a single letter-size sheet of paper. After printing it one would fold it in half lengthwise, then fold it in half again and then again. That produces a tiny book that fits in the pocket of a t-shirt or can be used as a bookmark.

So, I put together six poems into a book which you are free to download and print, if you wish. Although I added color to the PDF file, I normally print this in black and white and landscape mode and use it as a bookmark.

For those who would like the see the LaTeX commands, I placed the files on Google Drive under Six Poems.
