Cosmic Photo Challenge: Community

Dale offers the prompt “community” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

There is a park across the street from us which serves many housing communities in the area. Some of the trees there are beautiful even when they are not blooming.

The area used to be part of Heritage USA a Christian theme park which fell apart some decades ago. Although we knew nothing about that park when we moved here many of the people we now know were associated with it in some way.

The blossoms on a particular kind of tree in the park symbolize the area for me. I think the tree is a kind of magnolia, but I don’t know. I just walk through the park.

I think this is the blossom of a kind of magnolia tree.
Another view of the blossom.
And this is what happens to it after it finishes blooming.
Another view of what happens after the blooming.

In the Evening Light

Dale offers the prompt “in the evening light” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

A couple weeks ago I went to the ocean to watch the full moon rise. The first photo shows one of the pictures I took.

The second photo was taken some years ago in Tiberias watching the moon over the Sea of Galilee. The third was back at the Atlantic Ocean.

______

Moonrise over the Atlantic Ocean
Moonrise over the Sea of Galilee
Moonrise over the Atlantic Ocean a few years ago

Cosmic Photo Challenge: Pick a Color

Dale offers the prompt “pick a colour” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Since I am near huge bodies of water at the moment, I’ll choose the color blue.

To add contrast I’ll also include the reds and yellows of a sunset and the dark silhouettes of trees and maybe even some people if they get in the way.

______

Intracoastal Waterway with palm trees blocking the view. I better get more blue in the next photo.
That’s the Atlantic Ocean at the horizon.
The Intracoastal Waterway. I need more blue.
Maybe too much blue, but more Intracoastal Waterway.

Cosmic Photo Challenge: Up, Down, Sideways

Dale offers the prompt, up, down, sideways, for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

For the up direction, I chose clouds during a sunset.

For the down direction, I chose an ancient pavement which was so far down it was below the normal walking surface.

For the sideways direction, while waiting for a sunrise, I noticed the moon which thankfully my phone was able to capture clearly enough.

LOOKNG DOWN: Ancient pavement in Jerusalem somewhere below the Western Wall
LOOKING UP: Colorful clouds during a sunset over the Intracoastal Waterway in Florida
LOOKING SIDEWAYS: Although there will soon be a sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean, look sideways to see the moon

Cosmic Photo Challenge: Here’s Some Cool Stuff I Found

Dale offers the prompt “here’s some cool stuff I found” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

One of the places I walk to in order to take pictures of the sunset is a small park.

The photos show my walk to and from that park as the sun set recently.

______

As I crossed this bridge I could see the sun setting and reflecting in the clouds.
Here is a view of the park, but I was attracted to the shadow of the bike on the wall.
Looking away from the sun the cloudy skies stood out on the water.
On the way back it was dark enough for the bridge lights to be on.

Fun In The Sun

Dale offers the prompt “fun in the sun” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

The first photo could also viewed as fun in the wind. Since I can’t swim, this is not something I plan on trying to do.

When the sun rises the birds are there to greet it. Sunrises are more fun with a few clouds to color the sky and many birds.

I imagine whoever is in the boat in the last photo is trying to get home before it’s dark.

______

Some people call whatever they’re doing out there fun.
When the sun rises the birds come out to start the new day.
There’s not much sun left in the day, but people are still out there on their boats

Symmetry

Dale offers the prompt “symmetry” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

The first photo shows symmetry in a wooden fence.

The second shows symmetry in tile pavement.

The third shows the symmetry of the horizon.

______

There is symmetry in this wooden fence
There is symmetry in these tiles in many directions except where there’s not
Horizontal symmetry, sort of, but the sun and other stuff got in the way

What’s Flowering Where You Are?

Dale offers the prompt “What’s flowering where you are?” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Some of these I took last year at the same time of year, but the cactus is recent.

______

Up close view of the blossom.
It looks like some kind of cactus in bloom.
Whatever it is, it is nicely red.
I suspect this is a yellow version of the one above.

Lights, Camera, Action

Dale offers the prompt, “lights, camera, action”, for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

My phone is my camera.

The sun rising and setting in the clouds on various days brings both the lights and the action. In these parts the climate changes daily while remaining pretty much the same year after year.

______

Sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean, a huge part of the much larger Flood Waters of Noah
Sunset over the Intracostal Waters
Another sunrise with birds providing the action
Another setting sun where you can see it’s position different from the sunset above.
