Yesterday’s enlightenment
Becomes today’s delusion.
Smoky mirrors give a show
Then charge for their confusion.
I trust. What else is there to do?
Perhaps the smoke will clear
And should that need a miracle
I’ll wait for it right here.
Linked to dVerse Poetics where Amaya is hosting with the theme “smoke and mirrors”.

I do believe that we can see through the smoke and expose the magician if we are careful enough.

Wonderful photos. The green is so green on the leaves, the butterfly pales in comparison. I like your succinct wording and clarity of where you stand.

You are the master of haiku and brevity; love the sly rhyme scheme; and yes, hope seems to cling around your neck like a love pendant.

Yes, Frank. I think the illusion fails if the onlooker practices patience and persistence. Smoke and mirrors and all the glam and glitz depends on a stupefied, instantly gratified audience.
