Leaves are turning red in fall.
Watch the geese go somewhere new.
With a conscience true may all
Of winter’s sorrows not turn you.

In some ways, I’ve always thought autumn was nature’s cruelty thrust upon us…..that glorious color that regales…then falls to leave a monotone world of skeletal trees. It’s like she yanks the rug right from under us….from brilliance to the depths of tepid dull.

I’ll muddle through winter with thoughts of autumn and spring, my favorite seasons.

The beauty of fall is also a stark reminder of the barren boughs to come.

When I think about Autumn, I think about colour. Rarely do I connect it to winter. Perhaps because I want winter to stay at a distant AND because it’s almost Summer here. 😉

I always enjoy your photos, Frank…so beautiful where you live. Here in the south there’s little change yet to come to tell us that fall is here. Most autumns are still quite warm but I have lived in a seasonal place before with quite severe winters so sure understand the change you’re describing here. Including winter’s sorrows!
