It’s holiness that makes us hush
not happiness that runs away
with pleasures leading us astray
in nightmares while the waters rush.
With affirmations rich and plush
we thank the Lord who made the sky,
who made the earth and birds that fly
and creatures on the land below
and in the water. See! They show
the glory of our God on high.
Ronovan Hester offers the rhyme word “hush” to be used in an A line of a décima having rhyme pattern ABBAACCDDC for this week’s challenge and Eugenia offers “affirmations” for this week’s prompt. I was thinking of Jerry Bridges’ book, The Pursuit of Holiness.

Wow!! Beautiful tribute. 🙂

I hope I used the word “hush” correctly by associating it with holiness. I needed to use that word and wanted to talk about holiness.
Thank you and blessings, Michael!

I thought it was perfect. When I stand before God, I will not have a thing to say. It will all be about the mercy of God.

Jerry Bridges got me thinking about holiness as what we should be pursuing. Thank you for bringing him to my attention in one of your posts.

The second half reminds me of psalm 19. ❤

I had not thought of Psalm 19, but the second half does remind me, now that you mentioned it, of how the heavens declare the glory of God.
