Those whose eyes refuse to see the sunshine will Not see the moon rise slippery on the waters. Evenings darken waves on oceans wild or still. Before that night falls may my fresh eyes see And not ignore the ancient moon that follows me.
Linked to dVerse Quadrille where Linda Lee Lyberg is hosting with the word “slip”.

What a beautiful use of the word slippery Frank.

I like that this could be interpreted several ways, and the last line echoes.

I am not sure what it means. Sometimes trying to rhyme and make it sound the way I want gets in the way of the sense of the poem. Thank you, Kate!

lol and I thought it implied some deeper meaning Frank, thanks for your honesty!

Nothing deep. (That I’m aware of. 🙂 )

Thank you, Kerfe! I like the soft light coming from the moon even though we need the bright sun to provide that.

This is beautiful, Frank. Such a nice relief from the violence that is racking my city at the moment.

Your photos and words fit wonderfully together, I think your message is a reminder to appreciate the beauty before you. If you cannot see the sun how can you see the magic of the moon? It takes an open eye to truly see.

The light does seem slippery on the water but I don’t think I would have seen it without the prompt word. Thank you, Bjorn!

A calming poem. I liked the way you used slippery differently, “Not see the moon rise slippery on the waters.”

Like others, this is a fine piece Frank – I focussed in on your choice of ‘slippery’ for the rising moon – it suggested to me both the elusive moon, and the moonlight flickering low across moving waters or tidal flats. So enjoyed this image and the whole shebang. Thanks for another terrific quad.
