Dream School

Long after graduating I would have dreams where I could not find the classroom nor the administration building to get a schedule of the classes I was taking and the semester was coming to a close. This wasn’t a nightmare, but a delightful confusion.

Blooms have won.
Dream away
Summer sun,
Autumn day.

Then I wake up.

Autumn day,
Summer sun
Dream away.
Blooms have won.

I wonder what that dream was trying to tell me, but not for long. Like summer passing into autumn I forget I even had it.

Unseen

There’s magic that we will not see
That monkeys with us all the while.
We think we’ve got it figured out.
Who knows what it is all about?
Fortunately, we still smile.

Silence

Silence doesn’t make us lonely.
Accusations do.
May the times of silence only
Help those broken to renew.

Innocence

Connected by a daisy chain
Fragile bonds release the pain
That separates us. Now we know
With innocence fresh love may grow.

Forgiveness brightened up the dark
And drove the shadows from the park
Where daisies dance, wind blown, and we
Are bonded, blessed with empathy.

Deadly Sins

Constraints from sinning turn their screws in me.
I sleep to see fresh dreams of a new birth
Where everything I do was meant to be
And not to amplify my own self-worth.
If ever there’s a heaven for this earth,
And even if I’m not permitted in,
May praise be given for forgiven sin.

Opposites

Sorrow from the clearing goes.
Joy there lost today.
Rejection grips as sadness grows.
The woods of darkness stay.

I’ll follow sorrow, if I may.
It wanders mindfully.
“Don’t waste your time,” the wise may say,
“Those woods are dark. You’ll lose your way.”
Forgiveness strengthens me.

What a cure to trust when evenings fall

Imaginary Friend

My imaginary friend knows where I am. I’m on a quest to find that idea that will turn life right-side up again. It could be a fool’s errand, but I have nothing else to do. So if you’re looking for me, you might as well stop. I don’t have the answer–yet. Find the answer and offer to share it with whomever wants to know. Then, perhaps, I will find you.

Savage Gardens

Their last name made me think of something wild.
Their gardens with calm beauty eased my mind
Where innocence returned as to a child
And mystery was everywhere to find.
