It is wonderful when empathy overcomes the chill of reason.

Time incites the mystery.
Space makes ample room to see.
Breath absorbs it patiently–
Strong you stand and watch with me.
Should we fall or should we rise
Victory glows in our eyes.
Death, no matter how it tries,
Drops in time its thin disguise.

Every candle shows its flame,
Burning wax, reheating blame.
Maybe it is all the same
When the end upturns the game.
When the end sets up the fall
Will my candle scatter all
Flickers fighting in a brawl?
Fire the passion. Free what’s small.
Text: Linked to dVerse Quadrille. De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) hosts with the theme word “fire”. I used the tanaga form for this poem after reading a poem last week by Bekkie Sanchez.

What words appear to lead me on my way?
Not one? But I need none to praise this wondrous day.

Forgiveness may be hard to do, too hard to do alone, but should it happen anyway and burden’s lifted in some way, perhaps we’re not alone.

The ring she gave was made of lead
And broke one lonely day.
“It has no worth,” the jeweler said.
He’ll keep it anyway.

Imaginary friends don’t talk back as much. That’s one reason to ask their opinions. They don’t know what’s really going on, but sometimes they have an interesting perspective. Real friends will try to set me straight according to their views of the direct path from here to there but they are often as wrong as I am.
I take a walk which takes me on a path temporarily away from all friends. There’s mystery before my eyes. The trees are budding. There will be Spring regardless of my wintery dreams.
BIRDSONG THROUGH BLUE SKY
WINTER’S BRANCHES TRUST AND BUD
WOULD THAT I COULD HEAR

In spite of everything were they
Delighted I stayed home today?
I watered every one and I’ll
Drift into daydreams with a smile.

Forgiveness won’t untwist what’s done but let’s the present overcome.
