Rest and Motion

Forgiveness is a sacred motion
Like waves expressing deeper ocean.

Text: Linked to Debbie Roth’s Forgiving Fridays.  I will be featuring couplets like this in honor of the solstice this Thursday, June 21st, at dVerse.

Say What You See

What they would say is “Go away.
Leave our young in peace.
But should you dare, well, we’re prepared
To treat like bad geese.”

Photos: “Swans Looking at Me”, above, “Circles of Color Amid Fairy Green”, below linked to K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge with the theme “say what you see”. The captions of the photos are me saying what I see in the photos and the poem imagines what I think those swans are saying to me.

Being Positive Through Negation

It’s not something that I don’t know
Though what it is is hard to say.
It’s not something that words can show.
Wordiness is not its way.

It’s not that it is not not there.
I take a breath and let it be.
It’s not that I can point out where,
But everywhere it calls to me.

Imaginary Friend

My imaginary friend knows where I am. I’m on a quest to find that idea that will turn life right-side up again. It could be a fool’s errand, but I have nothing else to do. So if you’re looking for me, you might as well stop. I don’t have the answer–yet. Find the answer and offer to share it with whomever wants to know. Then, perhaps, I will find you.

Cobblestone Fear

Fear is round like cobblestones
Hampering my feet.
It looks as dead as dried-white bones.
It needs no more to eat.

I feed it nonetheless and so
It grows to my chagrin.
When it bursts that’s when I know
My breath flows free again.

Text: Linked to dVerse Quadrille Monday. De Jackson (WhimsyGizmo) is hosting and the word is “cobble”. I am also linking this to Jilly’s “Day 4 of 28 Days of Unreason” featuring poetry by Jim Harrison.

Kindness and Coffee

One kind word and coffee will
Open up my heart to you.
If you’re out of coffee, love,
That one kind word will do.

I wrote this while drinking a cup of double espresso with steamed milk at Java Punk Coffee in Colorado Springs.  It was the best espresso drink I’ve ever had.  The photos above and below were taken at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.  I am linking this to dVerse Open Link Night.
