Smoke and Mirrors

Yesterday’s enlightenment
Becomes today’s delusion.
Smoky mirrors give a show
Then charge for their confusion.

I trust. What else is there to do?
Perhaps the smoke will clear
And should that need a miracle
I’ll wait for it right here.

Monochrome

Colors make the dark one’s deep and lets the purples run.
Yellows, oranges, greens and such prefer to get some sun.
Monochromes stay back at home with only black and white.
Sometimes grays come out to play, then all becomes delight.

Perhaps Too Colorful

Just an Illusion

Voices telling me what’s true,
What they think that I should do
Are like illusions passing by,
Cloud reflections dropped from sky.
Water waves are mostly smooth
And sunshine sets about to soothe
Even they when wrong feel right,
Secrets sealed in full moonlight.

Clouds Below the Water

Peace of Mind

Ever mindful but of what and why?
Forever comes tomorrow. Hear the song?
I don't know all the lyrics but I'll try
To let it lead me home and sing along
And trust when I am weak that it stays strong.

There’s always something more that I could do.
There’s always some small dream to tarry through.
There’s always some old treasure I might find
In hidden memories. Were they all true
That mercy sang with kindness to my mind?

Reason Circles Me

There’s reasoning that wants to go nowhere.
It circles back to check if I am weak
To tempt me with its nonsense, if I dare,
And if I don’t suggest that I’m too meek
Or impotent to take what it would seek.
I walk and hope each step leads to the goal.
I like those geese, obedient and whole.
I like the trees who don’t have much to say.
I like contentedness without control
Unlike this devil circling me astray.

Living in the Light

In every case the light will win.
Even shadows can’t stand lies.
Though nights are cool when days begin
Forgive, give praise to morning's rise.

Walking

It comes with walking: one step follows one.
How we obtained this now I do not know
Since any step we might have left undone
And we arrived by moving all too slow
Through doubts which kept us wondering where to go.
There’s someone guiding us about this maze -
The unexpected door, this path, that haze
That frightened us then brought refreshed relief.
The bright sun humbles darkness starting days
As justice blessed with mercy brings belief.
