Mark – Six Sentence Story

From two used phones Timothy constructed one that could not be traced but could connect through the command center’s back door. He entered the passcode TheHappySpiderIsWatchingYOU.

Given the compromised safehouse, he got right to the point, “What was that all about?”

“You have the zip file, don’t you?”

Since he knew it would annoy them, Timothy said, “I also have the spider’s mark.”

Timothy waited until they blinked, “You wouldn’t dare.”

The devil gets no peace. To sing
for him is more a punishment.
His time is short. It goes. It went,
but wrath remains a fearful thing.

We’re confident. Each coming spring
is but rehearsal for the end
when death is done and life can mend.

From Close Up

Dale offers the theme “from close up” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge. I was surprised that the tiny lizard sat still long enough for me to get three photos. I suspect the grasshopper sat still because it was injured. Both knew I was there, wishing I’d go away. So I moved on.

Chelsea Owens challenges us to write a rant for this month’s A Mused Poetry Contest. Ranting gives me a chance to blame someone besides myself.

I was thinking of Genesis 3. Imagine what Adam and Eve might have said to each other after eating from the tree that gave them the knowledge of good and evil along with the realization, to their surprise, that they weren’t good enough to be gods.

I don’t recall that they actually blamed the tree in Genesis, but they might as well have. I wonder what God would have done if they repented then and there, broke their rant, and blamed themselves?

Regardless, were I in their place given my own history of messing things up, I shudder to think what would have happened.

Wolf Moon

Looking up I know that I
am blessed to see this full wolf moon.
Without a word I hear the sky,

Care – Décima

“It will be Biblical,” I’ve read.
My hope embraces all the change
and challenges. I’ll rearrange
ignoring fear, rejecting dread.

In truth good news has long been spread.
I sacrifice my sinful heart.
Create it pure. Renew each part.
I’ll trust the warmth and saving care.
I’ll wait in silence anywhere
then praise whatever You might start.

Ocean – Six Sentence Story

Through his earpiece Timothy was instructed to meet at the “six gates” safehouse in two hours.

He could walk there in fifteen minutes giving him enough time to see if the location was compromised. The approaching storm over the Atlantic Ocean would offer some cover if it was. He hid his earpiece, phone and a small surprise under the mulch behind the building where no one should go and he went to the boardwalk to watch.

Through his binoculars Timothy smiled when he recognized the two men who shouldn’t have found his phone, find it. His only regret was he kind of liked that earpiece.

From Ground Level

Dale offers us the prompt “from ground level” for this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Above is a photo of a walkway taken near ground level. I call that a “pigeon perspective” thinking that’s what pigeons see. Below is the top of a palm branch lying on the ground in a park. I like the folds of the branch that peeled off the trunk of the tree.
