Trying to Make Sense out of Space-Time in the Here and Now

Increase your speed away from here,
Your time to me would disappear.
Your beauty stays a mystery
While I grow old so rapidly.
Although you’ve left me we still find
Our memories do not unwind.
Eventually it seems we die.
We won’t need space or time to fly.
Mass unwound takes us back there
Where love moves here and everywhere.

Cornered Again in My Dreams

My monsters have me cornered.
There’s nothing I can do,
But they’re so jumbly juicy
My teeth would gnaw them, too.

I’d like one buttered up to bite
While thinking thoughts real deep
So people think the stuff I write
Need not put them to sleep.

Oh, sure, I do get sleepy,
But they are getting near.
Monsters, monsters everywhere!
I’m cornered. They are here.

Becoming the Wizard

Lake Michigan.jpg

There was a wizard once who knew
The way to let what’s timeless through,
Transforming what we thought was true
Into a lovely show.

He hinted there’s something to do
Then we could be like wizards, too,
But now I’m old, I hope what’s new
Just lets the warm love flow.

Young Night

Light can come from anywhere.
The Sun won’t interfere
Though earlier it owned the sky.
The Moon is full. The buildings rise.
The snow-like stars and star-like snow
Reminds one of the cold.
There is a bridge from here to there
And back again from there to here
Off-center and below
That maps attempt to document.
Is there a narrative in this?
Has someone sent a secret kiss
That sets in motion someone bold?
Is there somewhere some consciousness
That daydreams as the night grows old?
This night’s still young, too wise to care.
It’s cloud-hazed, bright and anywhere.

The Seed Who Dreamed of Travel

One day I hope to travel
But I will go nowhere.
I’m like a seed who sprouts and tries
To grow then shaded wilts and dies.
I’m rooted here not there.

If life’s a destination,
Then mine ends where I start.
And if I traveled from my home
And drifted somewhere all alone.
That, too, would break my heart.

How Humor Can Make Things Better Or Worse

Humor feeds those parts of man
That hope sweet dreams come true
And woman feels she finally can
Do what she wants to do.

Anyone is happy when
Laughter lightens air.
Giggles entertain us then
And we no longer care.

This poem is a simple one.
It rhymes and sounds like verse.
I hope that now you know it’s done
It don’t make matters worse.
