The Spirit of Rain

The Sun is raining down on me
To warm the watery mystery
That also sometimes likes to fall
To
change from clouds pressed over all.
Formerly that greedy cloud
Darkened, thundering out-loud -
What lovely gifts we freely get.
Some come dry. Some are wet.

De Jackson, aka WhimsyGizmo, is hosting with the theme word “change”.

Rain

Days drip gray upon my head.
My heart runs red like rain
That ever flows while living goes
Through pleasant breathing pain.
Would I knew why skies turned blue
And kept me safe from harm
I’d ever praise these rain-gray days
Extending youthful charm.

Text: Linked to dVerse Quadrille Monday hosted by Kim from Writing in North Norfolk. The word for the quadrille is “rain”.

Gray Day with Waves

Rain — #writephoto

Rain is wet like water,
Not so hard as ice,
Not so hot my hand gets hot,
Messy, mostly nice.

The Sun thinks clouds are funny.
They block the warmth of day
Making fantasies up high–
Carousels turn in the sky–
Friendly, flowing play.

Text: Linked to dVerse Poetics. Lillian is hosting and the theme is to put a positive spin on “rain”, “rein” or “reign”.  I am also linking this to Sue Vincent’s #writephoto prompt.  Come join us in writing for these prompts.

Cloudiness

Circling rain from hurricane
Leaks through the wrecked roof.
Only hope can drain:
Up comes wavy proof
Drowning the dry place
In torrential waste.
Nightmares blocking bliss
End with fear and pain.
Sink with thoughts of only this.
Sink in wet of wider rain.

Linked to dVerse Quadrille Monday hosted by Bjorn using the word “bliss”. I am thinking of Hurricane Harvey.  The poem also represents the “acrostic” form which I plan to use for this Thursday’s dVerse form prompt.

Last Draft

A little rain, a little wet
A little sun we won’t forget
A drizzle, drazzle, druzzle there
A frazzle frizzled up somewhere
Mushy, splushy, gushy kiss
Happy dragging worlds through bliss
A liftoff love crash lands with pain
Healing hearts light dance in rain

Linked to NaPoWriMo2017 Day Ten although I realize actually writing one poem a day is beyond me.

Running in the Rain

Splashing water hangs tightly in drops
Running wildly until splashing stops.
Run and know that this now
Is entangled somehow
With more joy when the pain smiles and pops.

Glad He Liked It

Some humor shines best when it’s sunny.
Others want rain thick and runny.
We’re soaked when the skies
Shed big tears through God’s eyes
From His laughter. He thought we were funny.
